About the Artist
David Ralston
David studied at Manchester High School of Art and St. Martin’s School of Art where he specialised in painting and woodcarving. On returning to Oldham, he opened an art gallery on Yorkshire Street which he ran for a number of years. In later years he worked in the aviation industry whilst maintaining a strong passion for painting.
David has exhibited in several galleries in the North West and has work in a number of private collections. He draws inspiration from everyday subjects and the cultural diversity seen in and around the Oldham area.
David is influenced by the work of Van Gogh, Matisse and the vibrancy of the Fauvist movement. He enjoys the challenge of drawing direct from life and experimenting with different approaches to painting.
