About the Artist
Janis Bowie MAFA
With a background in teaching Art as well as Design and Technology, Janis now works part time in an art gallery and picture framing business.
The rest of the time she paints, mainly in Acrylic, but sometimes watercolour when she is producing a small composition before advancing onto a larger acrylic one.
Her subject matter varies from landscapes to scenes involving everyday life depicting people and textile mill interiors. All these subjects started by local innovation, but soon included inspiration from travels and experiences.
The mill interiors started because many local mills were closing down and she wanted to preserve the memory of this once important industry.
