About the Artist
Kristian Holbrook
I am a local artist and painter and have grown up and currently am living in Saddleworth. I am interested in art and it’s history.
I progressed from gaining an A at GCSE level to Art at Oldham 6th Form College and then to a Foundation Course at Tameside Technical College. Then I got a BA Hons. in Fine Arts at Manchester Metropolitan University in 1988.
I have spent some time living in Norway as I have family there. I sometimes use subjects inspired by either the farm, or surrounding area in Norway. But my subject matter varies between a special building on a farm, scenes painted from photo’s taken in the area (Norway) and still life.
I am working on a decent attempt of a self portrait, (having tried a few times before), and my most recent painting is called “Manchester BEE V2”. I also paint Saddleworth moorland scenes and other scenes in the UK.
I was accepted into the Saddleworth Group of Artists in 2010 and have been exhibiting work as a member of this group.
